Transitioning to the Y

I have had a really interesting couple of weeks.

As we start transitioning from the YMCA to the Y, I have had the privilege of being in the room to hear pitches for a new marketing campaign to promote the Y across our communities. We were challenged to think differently and to be brave with what that may look like.  That can sometimes be hard when you have a room full of strong minded people, and we were no different. Personal preferences, being safe, not leaving our prejudice behind, all showed up and reminded me that we have some work to do to truly bring the vision to life. Our role as leaders is to face into that and make changes.

I also had the privilege to sit through tender responses for our renewed accreditation process for our Safeguarding Children & Young People. The Y is committed to continue to lift the bar and create safer spaces for Children, Young People and Vulnerable people in our organisation and I am excited about what we can achieve over the next three years. We have done so much to become leaders in this area and I am heartened that we wish to continue to lift the bar.

I also managed a trip to Canberra to celebrate mum's 80th.  We managed to shock those who have known her the longest with stories of her escapades piloting Gliders and Tiger Moths, sailing, water skiing, living in London and the list goes on! A wonderful celebration of an incredible human being. Happy birthday mum. (above photo is mum travelling in Egypt!)
