Living Longer Living Stronger is a program run throught Victoria for people over the age of 50 who wish to start exercise but are perhaps a little afraid of joining a gym. It is endorsed by the organisation COTA - for older Australians.
On Tuesday and Thursday a qualified and experienced gym instructor helps the group with their own individual work out. The focus is on fitness and strength rather than the body beautiful but you may find you lose a few kilos along the way. To join the program you first need medical clearance from your doctor and you will have a Health Check with a gymie. From there based on your health history, past exercise habits and any medical conditions your own program using the cardio and weights machines will be developed.
You can come along to Living Longer Living Stronger for just $5 a time or you may prefer to join on a Pryme membership which will give you access to all facilities (including the pools) between 8-3.30pm weekdays and all day weeekends
Don't worry you won't be left on your own - a friendly gymie and other helpful older adults will help you to remember what you need to do each time you visit. Afterwards enjoy a complimentary cuppa with your new found friends.
